What's been happening at Hundle?

Welcome to our latest quarterly client update. I would like to share some of my personal highlights from the past 3 months. The team have made a flying start to 2024, and it is important to take time to pause, reflect, and recognise the progress we have made as a firm.

WOMEN & WINE EVENT WITH SOTHEBY’S

One of my favourite moments this quarter was our highly successful Women & Wine event, organised in partnership with Sotheby’s and spearheaded by Eleanor de Rusett, a Director in our Client Advisory team.

On the 12th of March, high-profile female entrepreneurs and business leaders gathered at Sotheby’s to discuss the challenges and opportunities when building a wine collection. The event was opened by one of the world’s leading authorities on wine – Serena Sutcliffe, M.W., Honorary Chairman, Sotheby’s Wine. Serena has been a long-standing advocate of tackling the inequalities that exist in the wine industry.

The event also featured a tasting led by Zofia Dalkowska, Wine Specialist at Sotheby’s, that showcased outstanding wines produced by female winemakers, and a preview of stunning jewellery that will be auctioned by Sotheby’s in May.

This event forms part of a wider initiative at Hundle to build a community where women can come and share ideas, talk about their financial concerns and goals, and come away feeling empowered and set-up for success. This event was only possible because of the passion and dedication that Eleanor has shown since joining Hundle from J.P. Morgan last year.

YODEL INVESTMENT

Since our inception, I have recognised the value of providing our clients with access to alternative asset classes and direct investment opportunities. To deliver this, we have hired in-house expertise, including Andrew Velasco, who brings a wealth of experience across corporate finance and private equity.

In February, Hundle played a leading role in arranging crucial short-term financing for Yodel, one of the largest logistics and delivery companies in the UK. This deal, which we cover in more detail in our market update, delivered strong returns for our investors and was sourced and led by Andrew.

This type of transaction showcases the value of offering access to private market opportunities to our clients and the advantage of building a team who are comfortable dealing with the complexities inherent in direct deals.

DOUBLE INDUSTRY AWARD SUCCESS

When I founded Hundle, I wanted to offer an alternative to the traditional private banking career path, where the brightest minds in wealth management could thrive and build rewarding careers. It therefore fills me with a great sense of pride when members of our team are recognised by the wider industry for the exceptional service and innovation that they deliver for our clients.

Last month, Jan Meyer, our Head of Portfolio Management, was crowned Chief Investment Officer of the Year for 2024 at the prestigious WealthBriefing Awards. This recognition is a testament to Jan’s expertise and unwavering dedication in navigating the complexities of the financial markets. Hundle was also crowned Multi-Family-Office of the Year. This type of accolade is only possible because of the collective efforts of our whole team in delivering tailored solutions and fostering enduring relationships with our valued clients.

NEW JOINER

We are always seeking to add exceptional talent to our team and I am therefore delighted to welcome Lucy Weldon to the Hundle family as a Relationship Manager.

Lucy joined Hundle after spending 6 years at James Hambro & Partners where she helped manage private client multi-asset investment portfolios. Lucy holds both the Investment Advice Diploma and the Investment Operations Certificate, as well as a BSc in Geography from the University of Bristol. At Hundle, Lucy’s role focuses on dedicated relationship management for new and existing clients. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the valuable contributions she will undoubtedly make.

The Partners and I are currently interviewing candidates to join our investment, marketing, and operations teams. I look forward to introducing our clients and trusted business contacts to all of our new joiners in the coming months.
